RSV is a common respiratory virus that can cause serious complications, especially among infants, children, and children with other complex medical problems.

We are excited to announce Dr. Wendy Carcamo has joined our PCCSF family!
Dr. Carcamo received her medical degree from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando, Florida. She completed her pediatric residency and pediatric critical care medicine fellowship at Arnold Palmer Children’s hospital in Orlando, Florida.
Prior to obtaining her medical degree, she obtained her PhD in molecular cell biology at the University of Florida. During which time she studied autoantibodies and identified a novel cellular structure. The interest in research continued during fellowship in which she studied the use of orbital sheath diameter as a surrogate for ICP. Additionally, studied the utility of early mobility with lead to the implementation of early mobility guidelines in the PICU.
Additional areas of interest include education with a focus on the use of simulations as an education tool.

Dr. Runyon is a great addition to our team and his expertise will help us to continue delivering quality care to our patients.
Dr. Jonathan Runyon received his Bachelor of Science in Biological Science from Florida State University and his Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (formerly Miami Children’s Hospital) and his pediatric critical care medicine fellowship at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston McGovern Medical School.
Dr. Runyon’s professional interests include pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome, shock, trauma, traumatic brain injury, solid organ transplant, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. His personal interests include spending time with his wife, daughter and two goldendoodles, fishing, scuba diving, surfing, golfing, and the Florida Keys.

With his passion and expertise in providing advanced and compassionate care to critically ill patients, Dr. Shanmugham is a perfect fit for our mission and will be a valuable asset to us. Dr. Shanmugham received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida, and his medical degree from Florida International University. He completed his general pediatrics residency at the University of Florida, and his pediatric critical care fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern/Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Shanmugham is passionate about providing the most advanced and compassionate care possible for critically ill children and is also interested in quality improvement, medical informatics, and the medical humanities.
Happy to return home to the sunny shores of South Florida, he lives in Miami with his wife and his coonhound, Amber. He enjoys far too many hobbies, including hiking, gardening, traveling, landscape photography, road biking, and computer building.
